After scouting locations in a nearby city for formal photos, I realized something: it’s not always easy to know where to go for the best backdrops—especially if you’re not a local. So let me save you the guesswork and be your guide to Watertown’s top photo spots. From iconic landmarks where generations have captured life’s big moments, to hidden gems tucked away from the crowds, Watertown has the perfect setting for every occasion. Let’s explore your options!

Riverside Park, 850 Labaree St.

Riverside Park is the granddaddy of them all. A generational spot for formals and casual photos alike. With a bridge to an island surrounded by the Rock River, your opportunities are endless.

Tivoli Island, 101 Tivoli Dr.

Tivoli is perfect for several reasons. First, the historic bridge that leads to the island is absolutely perfect for photos. But there’s more. Kick off the formal shoes and take a short hike across the island for a view of the dam in the background. I’ve seen some amazing graduation photos taken here.

Draeger’s Floral Mural, 616 E. Main St.

The beautiful flower-arrangement mural has quickly become a recognized photograph area. I see the mural cross my social feed often.

Speaking of flowers, one of my favorite photos stops is also one of my favorite retailers. The displays Ebert’s creates throughout the property should be snapped and enjoyed for years to come.

Brandt-Quirk Park, 800 Carriage Hill Dr.

With 169 acres to explore, Brandt-Quirk is the place to take your photos in the forest with a charming bridge, or on any of the sports courts and fields for your action shots.

Downtown Alley, East 100 Block Alleyway

If you’re looking for something a little more industrial and edgy, a public alley will do the trick. Be aware they can be open to vehicles, but are used more often by foot traffic.

Interurban Trail, Trailhead located at Clark and Humboldt Street

You, nature, the sunset, the sunrise, everything works on the Interurban Trail. Running photos, biking photos, and even formals will be beautiful.

Octagon House Museum (exterior), 919 Charles St.

Nothing is more grand than this beautiful 1854 pre-Civil War mansion. Snap an exterior photo for your special occasion, but be sure to come back when they’re open for an incredible tour of the interior.
