Jordy’s Bar & Steakhouse popped on the Watertown scene in early September and it didn’t take long for word to get out that they have something special going on. I was a little hesitant to try a restaurant in their first couple of weeks, but an opportunity to gather with some girlfriends came up, and I couldn’t resist trying “the new place.”
Atmosphere
I had been in Jordy’s once before when the Chamber invited me to attend their ribbon cutting. I was instantly impressed with their southwest theme throughout. It was so modernized and cool, and I just knew Watertown would embrace the vibe of this new dining spot.
On the night of our dinner experience, these photos wouldn’t have been possible. It was quite busy, with a packed house. My friend arrived first and was told there would be about a 30-minute wait, however it ended up being more like 15-20 minutes. They have a small seating area for this purpose. We were seated for dinner in a corner booth with generous space. I think it could have seated six diners, and there are even bigger booths in the establishment that could seat eight.
Food and Drink
Shortly after we sat down, a basket of bread was delivered to the table. Unexpected, but a really nice way to set the tone of the evening.
A girlfriend’s dinner calls for a browse of the cocktail menu. Guys, I was carded when I ordered my Tito’s mule. The rest of this blog is going to be a 5-star review simply because I was flattered. Just kidding, but it’s something to keep in mind if you are well on the other side of 21 and don’t go out to eat with your driver’s license. Bring it along just in case. In addition to my flattery, my cocktail was outstanding. My girlfriends ordered an old fashioned and a margarita. We were all pleased with the quality and presentation of our drinks.
If you’ve read any of my other restaurant reviews, you’ll know I have a slight obsession with shrimp. This visit was no different and I ordered the breaded shrimp dinner with French onion soup. The menu didn’t mention that it also came with a side, so I chose onion rings, which my son would enjoy in the air fryer the next day.
As much as I enjoy all things shrimp, my real love is soup! And the soup was fantastic. Full of flavor and piping hot. The picture says it all. The shrimp was so beautiful, and I was very surprised at how much there was of it. It came with slices of lemon and a house-made cocktail sauce. The squeeze of lemon really made the dish for me. Seafood all day, please! I also tried one onion ring, and it was great. Thick-cut onions fried to perfection.
One of my dining mates chose a filet with loaded baked potato on the side. She also opted for the French onion soup to start. Her steak was tender and cooked exactly as ordered. She was very happy with her choice, and raved about the potato and soup.
The third member of our party eats plant based and was excited they had several options to enjoy. She chose a beautiful, fresh Mediterranean salad, with a side of sweet potato fries. She really enjoyed the flavors of the salad and said the portion was large for the price. The fries were nice and crispy and dusted with salt.
Service
Service was great. Our server was very friendly, knew the menu well, and was attentive to our group even though we were dining on a busy Saturday night. We all agreed a return visit will be in our future.
