Recently, my husband and I were facing a busy schedule, an upcoming trip, and no food in the house. Sounds like the perfect opportunity for pizza if I’ve ever heard one! Our kids were away and we wanted to take the opportunity to enjoy our dinner out. I knew exactly where to go: Biggs Bar & Grill.
The Food
Here’s the thing about Biggs. They’re known for their burgers and pizza. I’m talking locally iconic. And I’m starting to hear a constant rumble about their wings. They know what they’re doing over at Biggs. We knew browsing the menu would only confuse our decision, so we immediately opened to the pizza options and chose the Veggie. Before the food was brought to the table, our server brought over the largest container of parmesan I had ever seen. I loved it. Shortly after, the pizza arrived, generously covered in our chosen toppings. I overestimated and ordered the larger size, which was a very big meal for two.
I grabbed the provided fork and attempted to grab a piece for my husband. The cheese had other ideas. It kept going and going and going as I expanded my wing span away from the pie. Quite impressive! It took a little doing, but I separated the piece from the rest of the pizza and cut a piece for myself. Same (good) problem occurred. Ok, it looked delicious, but how about that first bite? Oh, so good!
We were in a hurry to get packed for our upcoming vacation, so we didn’t intend to have a beverage with our meal, but the little card at our table advertised a really yummy honey and bourbon drink that sounded pretty perfect. My husband gravitated to the Old Fashioned. They were both great and a perfect compliment to our pizza dinner.
We had a lot of leftovers and I wasn’t about to let it go to waste. We boxed it up and froze it when we got home. I’m so glad we did! We reheated it and it was just as delicious as leftovers. I’ll definitely order the larger pizza next time and do the same.
Atmosphere
The dining area is small and full of rustic charm. You’ll see lots of exposed wood and corrugated metal throughout the space. You can choose to sit at a table or a high top. Diners get a peek at the kitchen action as food is being prepared.
Service and more
I have to mention the price of this meal. The pizza was on special, which certainly affected the bill, but I was very surprised at how little we paid for two beverages and a large pizza that lasted us two meals. Especially for the quality of food.
Service was outstanding. Our server was very knowledgeable and made suggestions on our meal and drinks. She was genuinely invested in us having a good experience, which we did. Next time we go, we’ll allow ourselves a full browse of the menu.
