Every year for this blog I create a Hallmark movie script set in Watertown. This year, instead of writing the script, a small team brought the script to life with an event called Jingle Bell on the Rock, held on December 2 at the Bentzin Family Town Square and Watertown Public Library. I’m not sure if a holiday romance started at the event, or if a Prince from a small unknown country made an appearance, but the scene was set for those things to happen. A quaint small town with charm galore, holiday activities for people of all ages, and smiles for miles. The perfect setting for holiday movie magic to happen.
Behind the scenes
I don’t want to open the curtain all the way on this event, but I have to recognize that the show only goes on with a tremendous amount of assistance. Jody Purtell of Lead the Way Social was the perfect partner, with the spirit of Elf and the work ethic of Santa, she brought the dream to life. The gears would not have turned without help from the Watertown Main Street Program, the Watertown Public Library, the Bentzin Family Town Square team, dozens of volunteers, and the funding we received from the Beltz Foundation Downtown Watertown Special Events Grant Program. Mistletoe kisses to all of you!
