Synopsis: In the quaint town of Watertown, the annual Jingle Bell on the Rock festival promises magical matchmaking for singles ready to mingle. Fate begins weaving its holiday magic early, as two strangers keep crossing paths in the most festive—and unexpected—ways in the days leading up to the event.
Act 1: Fate’s First Twinkle
Ellie returns to Watertown for the holidays, reluctantly trading her busy city life for her mom’s small-town routine. To get into the Christmas spirit, she attends the Christmas Parade of Lights. Amid the twinkling floats and carolers, Ellie spots Luke holding a cup of cocoa, trying to dodge meddling friends from his Ready 2 Dance ballroom class, who insist he needs to “find someone.”
Ellie and Luke end up side by side near the brightly lit UPS float when a toddler tosses their stuffed reindeer onto Luke’s cocoa, splashing them both. They share an awkward but sweet conversation, parting ways without even exchanging names.
Act 2: A Trail of Encounters
1. Window Wonderland Voting:
Ellie and Luke cross paths again while voting for their favorite storefront in Watertown’s Window Wonderland competition. They both linger at the same shop—Sweet Talkin’ Treats, which features a gingerbread diorama of the town square. Ellie notices Luke’s quiet smile as he casts his vote, and they banter over whose favorite display is better.

2. City Tree Lighting:
At the annual tree lighting ceremony, Ellie’s mom insists she go to represent the family tradition. To her surprise, she ends up standing next to Luke as the crowd gathers to sing carols. They share another moment when the mayor flips the switch, and the tree glows brightly. Luke jokingly compares it to a moment in a holiday movie, and Ellie teases him about being a townie.
3. Shopping Local:
While browsing Far Horizons for gifts, Ellie picks up an ornament shaped like a goose for her mom, a nod to the city’s history and local high school’s mascot. Luke notices the same ornament and strikes up a conversation. They share a laugh over their mutual struggle to find the perfect gift for people who “already have everything.”

4. Morning Hike at Brandt-Quirk Park:
Seeking some solitude, Ellie hikes at sunrise, only to find Luke on the same trail. They decide to walk together, sharing stories about their favorite holiday memories. Ellie admits she’s still figuring out what “home” means, while Luke reveals his hesitation about opening up again after past heartbreak.

5. Coffee at Latte Donatte:
Finally, the two bump into each other at Latte Donatte. Ellie’s favorite drink spills when she’s distracted by a playful toddler, and Luke offers her a napkin. They laugh about their “holiday streak” of running into each other. A barista jokingly asks if they’re on a scavenger hunt for each other.
Act 3: Jingle Bell on the Rock
As the Jingle Bell on the Rock festival kicks off, Ellie and Luke both find themselves volunteering at the Piggly Wiggly s’mores station. Initially, it’s a coincidence—Ellie signed up to help with her mom’s Leadership Watertown class, while Luke volunteered to lend a hand for Yes! Watertown. When they realize they’ll be working together, they can’t help but laugh at their holiday “luck.”
While roasting marshmallows and handing out graham crackers, their banter turns playful. Ellie jokes about Luke’s “overly precise” marshmallow-roasting technique, while he teases her for eating as many marshmallows as she gives away. Kids and families gather around, creating a warm, festive energy that seems to draw them even closer.
After their shift, Ellie and Luke take a stroll through the festival, indulging in the holiday treats that fill the air with sweet aromas. Ellie insists they try the gourmet cotton candy that comes in flavors like peppermint and sugar cookie. Luke pretends to resist but ends up with a sticky peppermint strand on his nose, making Ellie burst into laughter.
Next, they grab a bag of freshly roasted nuts to share, savoring the warmth on the chilly afternoon. Luke points out how much he loves the simplicity of holiday moments like these, and Ellie surprises herself by admitting how much she’s missed this sense of connection and community.
Their stroll leads them to the festival’s Mistletoe Photo Booth, where tradition leaves them no choice but to share a smooch under the mistletoe.

Ending:
As the festival wraps up, Ellie and Luke decide to keep seeing where their connection leads. Together, they discover that sometimes the best gifts of all are the unexpected ones that find you when you least expect it.
