Weekends never looked so good! The Watertown Country Club golf course is now open to the public on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, and I’m taking full advantage. Casual golfers, visitors, and anyone curious about giving the sport a try, let’s tee off!

The course

The 18-hole course is in excellent condition with recent renovations and well-groomed fairways. I’m no expert, but a testimonial on their website drove home the point. WCC Member Michael says, “The conditions of the course are among the best I have played.” It’s looking good out there. In addition to the club’s top-notch maintenance, you’ll enjoy Silver Creek winding it’s way through the course, adding to the ambiance – and the challenge.

At the Club

All public tee times include 18 holes of golf, a cart, and access to the driving range. The clubhouse features a pro shop, with apparel, accessories, and equipment. You’ll also find a restaurant and bar, offering an exciting menu that is getting a lot of local attention. Stay tuned for a food review in the future!

The public is also welcome to reserve time on the state-of-the-art indoor golf simulator. The simulator offers pinpoint accuracy from the comfort of the clubhouse. Play on over 260 iconic courses or sharpen your skills with swing analysis. The experience is available in hour-long increments.

A little history

The Watertown Country Club opened for play in 1923, beginning with the front nine holes. The back nine were completed and opened in 1961. Since its inception, the course and clubhouse have undergone several major changes.

Watertown Country Club as a venue

The beautiful landscape of the property naturally lends itself as a premier event venue. Indoor and outdoor options are available, with the clubhouse accommodating up to 200 guests.

Why it matters

I recently attended a tourism convention where a panel of golf experts announced that Wisconsin is ranked the best state for public golf. Golf is a big deal, and it’s in growth-mode. How fortunate that Watertown can play its part with a course that is lauded for its condition, beauty, and range of skill levels.

More

The Watertown Country Club regularly hosts events such as Mats and Mimosas, Kentucky Derby and March Madness watch parties, and more. Play the course, attend an event, or simply enjoy the cuisine while enjoying the impressive views. The Watertown Country Club should be on your list of destinations, and if you golf on the regular, membership options are available from three visits, to unlimited golf. See you at the club!
