My husband and I were invited on a dinner date with another couple, and I was asked to pick the location. I wasn’t sure what my fellow diners liked to eat, so I chose a spot that was comfortable for a night of conversation, and that had a large menu to please all tastes. Rose Garden Family Restaurant fit the bill. I hadn’t been there in years but kept hearing great things. Time to give it a try.
Atmosphere
We met at the restaurant at 5:30pm, and there were many diners in the tables and booths. I didn’t want to interrupt the room by taking a photo, but I can share that it was a great first impression. The dining area looked very new. Modern and painted in cool colors. The lighting was just right, and everything felt so clean.
Food
The menu is extensive, and we all had a difficult time narrowing down the choices. In addition to breakfast, lunch, and dinner options, they also provide nightly specials and build-your-own pasta dinners. Three of us chose dinner specials, with another diner opting for a wrap.
All of our meals came with a choice of soup or salad and a choice of potato. I opted for the ribs and shrimp, with a cup of French onion soup and mashed potatoes with gravy. It was an ambitious portion, and I took over half of it home. The potatoes and gravy were excellent. The ribs were incredibly tender with a sweet BBQ sauce smothered on top. The shrimp were surprisingly large, and fried to perfection. My leftovers didn’t last long as my son attacked the ribs as soon as I got home. He liked them to the point that I know I have to take him back for that dish.
Another at our table opted for the ribs and chicken, with a salad and baked potato. He raved about the ribs.
His wife chose a chicken wrap with a side of French fries, and a cup of chicken dumpling soup. The wrap was generously filled with chicken breast, a shredded cheese blend, chopped bacon, lettuce, tomato, and onion. She thoroughly enjoyed it and also mentioned that the fries were hot and crispy with great flavor.
My husband opted for pork chops, with a cup of French onion soup and mashed potatoes and gravy. He felt the meat was cooked to perfection. Seared for flavor, yet very tender. He also enjoyed the soup and side.
Service
I was surprised to find that I knew our server. She goes to high school with my son, and has the perfect upbeat personality to work with the public. She provided us with excellent, attentive service. She knew the menu well, set each choice in front of the correct diner, and checked in regularly. We felt taken care of.
Conclusion
Rose Garden Family Restaurant will be top-of-mind when suggesting dining locations for a crowd. Whether guests are in town for family events, sports tournaments, or conferences, many mouths mean many palates to please. Rose Garden’s vast menu will offer dining harmony to groups of any size.
