Burger and fries at The Golden Spoon in Watertown Wi

The Golden Spoon Cafe opened in mid-January with a flourish! Watertown Tourism posted about their opening on social media, and within a couple of days, the post was viewed over 70,000 times. I knew then that a lot of people were interested and would put this business to the test. In the coming days, comments started flowing in and the people were HAPPY! Very happy. It was an easy decision to pay them a visit when we had a short window of time to grab lunch on a Saturday.

Atmosphere

The Golden Spoon Cafe is clean and comfortable, offering a good variety of booths and tables. There’s also a side room that works great for overflow and larger parties. Lighting is perfect, with lots of natural light coming through the windows.

The menus look similar to oversized placemats with lunch/dinner on one side, and breakfast on the other. Of course the gold silverware is the perfect touch.

Food

There is a lot to choose from, with breakfast, lunch, and dinner options available. My party of four tried a little bit of everything. I’m the world’s slowest eater and knew I needed something I could quickly package up since we were in a time crunch. I chose the crispy chicken sandwich with a side of fries. The sandwich was great. Cooked to perfection and finished with comfort toppings – American cheese, mayo, tomato, and lettuce on a toasted bun. Classic. The fries were amazing. Seasoned, crispy and piping hot. I love a hot meal that is freshly made.

My youngest son chose one of the burger selections. I don’t recall exactly which, but it included onion rights, mayo, lettuce, and bacon. It was huge and looked amazing. He chose fries as well. The other choices were a side salad or their soup of the day.

The rest of my group chose breakfast items from the menu. Both my husband and oldest son are gluten free, so they were very excited that they could choose gluten-free pancakes as the side to their skillets. My son chose the Latin Skillet, with chorizo, and opted for no eggs.

My husband chose the Meat Lovers Skillet with scrambled eggs. Both were very happy and said they would choose the same meal in the future. And did I mention the syrup is warmed before coming to the table? What a nice touch. They also serve fresh-squeezed orange juice. Those details really elevate a meal!

We were stuffed, but will try to save room for their desserts next time. That pie case was very tempting!

Service

Service was outstanding. Our server knew the menu well and was prompt, courteous, and made sure we had everything we needed.

We had a great experience and were in and out in one hour, which was all the time we had. Choosing from the menu was a challenge, so we look forward to going back and exploring more.
